My sweet,  lovely daughter*  showed me these beautiful videos and I wanted to share them with you!

The first is about a young lady whom you probably prayed for if you saw this site before.  Here is a story about Melanie Pritchard’s miracle:

Happy Mother’s Day!!!

*My wonderful daughter is a lovely young lady right now, almost finished with nursing school and an incredible person– beautiful both inside and out.

I remember when I very  first saw her.  She was only 13 weeks old in the womb. I had the great privilege of seeing her, so tiny and so precious, on the ultrasound, and I immediately fell in love with her.  There is no other way to describe it — I loved that beautiful little girl from the very first moment I laid eyes on her, from the first time I watched her on the ultrasound screen.

You don’t fall in love with a blob of tissue.  The “blob of tissue” argument is all a lie, a purposeful way to hide the truth from mothers when they are pressured into abortions.  I think that somewhere inside moms know the truth –you just know– and it is either a source of the greatest happiness you can have as a mom watching your children grow and become the people they were meant to be, or the greatest suffering you can have as a secondary victim of abortion, never knowing nor seeing your child for  the rest of your life.

If you are pregnant, your  baby is a child,  your child, closer than anyone else in the world to you right now, a precious daughter or son.  From the moment you see him or her on the ultrasound, the truth is unmistakeable to moms. It was to me.

There really is help out there for pregnant moms–no matter what your situation is right now.  Please check out the links.  And God bless you and all mothers!

Please Pray for Melanie!!!

Friday, July 30th, 2010

A beautiful young mother, Catholic Speaker, Pro-Life Advocate and founder of Refuge Clothing and Foundation for Life and Love in Phoenix Arizona is in desperate need of your prayers today as she recovers from complications from an emergency C-section.

Melanie Pritchard is an inspiring leader in the Catholic community, a young wife and mother who has devoted her life to protecting pregnant mothers and their unborn children for many years.  A former teacher, Melanie felt called to teach teens about the true meaning of  love and life when she was very young.

From the Catholic Sun:

Her passion for the pro-life cause, however, dates back to seventh grade when she saw “The Silent Scream,” a movie that shows what happens to the unborn baby during an abortion.
“Every paper, every debate after that was about abortion,” Pritchard said.
But she didn’t just talk about her beliefs. In 2004 she founded The Underground Project, an organization to get young people involved in the effort to protect the unborn.
It was in her work in youth ministry, however, that Pritchard began to see the connection between fostering respect for the unborn and encouraging both chastity and healthy dating habits.
Pritchard had given several presentations to teens about the values of chastity and modesty. She realized that if teens could learn to embrace these virtues, they wouldn’t be getting themselves into situations where they were tempted to seek an abortion.
As part of her effort to encourage chastity, she founded the Refuge Clothing Company (refugeclothing.com). The hip but modest T-shirts the company sells, Pritchard said, are a unique way to promote the dignity of the human person.
It’s a dignity, she said, that can be compromised by the way most people are dating. A failure to live the virtue of chastity is a key factor in the abortion debacle, and Pritchard has traveled the country speaking at conferences on the theme.
“If you think about why young people are having premarital sex and getting themselves into these situations, it comes down to they don’t see their own value their own worth. How could you see the value in an unborn baby when you don’t see it in yourself?”

Today she needs your prayers.

Melanie suffered (among other things) complete heart failure — her heart stopped for nearly 10 minutes on the operating table.   And yet today she is alive and was able to see her beautiful little girl Ella for the first time.

Her being here — awake and alive is no less than a miracle.  Thank You, Lord!!!!!!

But she is still quite ill and needs your prayers for a full recovery.  Please pray for her and her husband, Doug, as they face the challenges ahead.

Please join the thousands of people who are praying for this beautiful mom and her family.

*From Melanie:

(Her greatest aspiration or goal is……

To be a really good mom, to be the best mom I can be so that my children grow up knowing that they’re loved. Every day I tell my son, “You are unrepeatable, irreplaceable and unique and the day you were born the world changed for the better.” I got that from Pope John Paul II and the Theology of the Body. It’s brilliant. If my children know their worth, they’ll be off to a really good start.)
